At the dawn of the new millennium, Enrique Iglesias was the best-selling Latin recording artist in the world. The son of multimillion-selling singer Julio Iglesias, Enrique was born in Madrid, Spain, where he lived with his mother, his brother Julio, and his sister Chabeli. In 1982, his mother sent them to live in Miami with their father. While there, Enrique was exposed to three different cultures and musical influences — Hispanic, European, and American.
Enrique Iglesias
Iglesias’ own career started when he was still attending Gulliver Private School, a very prestigious school in Miami. He made his singing debut in a production of Hello, Dolly, after which he began practicing his singing without his parents knowing. After a year studying business at the University of Miami, he decided to follow his passion for music. In 1995, he sang in person for his soon-to-be manager, who at Iglesias’ insistence of not wanting to use his family name, first shopped his demos as an unknown Central American singer named Enrique Martinez. It wasn’t until he earned a record deal with Fonovisa that Enrique told his father and mother of his aspirations. Then he flew to Toronto where no one knew him and he could concentrate just on music, to record for five months.

That first album, Enrique Iglesias (1996), sold more than a million copies in three months (it earned him his first gold record in Portugal in a mere seven days) and to date has sold more than six million worldwide. The second album, Vivir (1997), enjoyed global sales of more than five million discs and launched his first world tour, backed by sidemen for Elton John, Bruce Springsteen, and Billy Joel. In a mere three years, Iglesias had sold more than 17 million Spanish-language albums, more than anyone else during that period. (The U.S. was his biggest market.) He also won the 1996 Grammy for Best Latin Performer, 1996’s Billboard Artist of the Year, Billboard’s Album of the Year for Vivir, two American Music Awards, a World Music Award, eight Premio Lo Nuestro Awards, two ACE Performer of the Year Awards, and ASCAP prizes for Best Composer of 1996 and 1997, in addition to countless accolades around the world.
Enrique Iglesias
With 1998’s Cosas del Amor, Iglesias moved to more mature content; his earlier material had been written when he was 17 years old. Then came Enrique, Enrique Iglesias’ first Interscope album and first in English, which achieved gold or platinum status in 32 countries and brought his global album sales to a total of more than 23 million. In 2001 he released the follow-up, Escape. Iglesias alternated Spanish- and English-language albums during the next two years, first offering the ballad collection Quiz in 2002, then the mainstream English record Seven in 2003.

Carlos Concepcion

Carlos ConcepcionName: Carlos Concepcion
Height: 5’8″
Weight: 140 lbs.
Occupation: Model, Designer
Country: Philippines

He holds a hyphenated title as long as his name. Model-entrepreneur-singer-dancer-designer Carlos Bernardo Santos Concepcion has been getting a lot of buzz lately. Easily the most controversial in his group, Take 5 – that boyband that performs every 1 pm on the Sunday show SOP, Carlos has remained unscathed. In fact he has admitted to the photos that circulated in the net recently [see post ]. Still, his person remains a mystery as to his lineage [apparently an heir of the Concepcions of RFM, but isn’t Joey Concepcion the heir of the empire?], his school [DLSU or Benilde?], his real occupation [he listed “designer” in the last Metro Magazine body calendar]. All I know is that his mother is a prominent Santos of Cebu, that he has a big vacation house with a big pool somewhere south of Manila, and that he walks as if he’s floating. I’m not making the last one up, but he does look nice doing that; imagine his heels not touching the ground, that is how he does it. Just watch SOP every Sunday and see for yourselves. It is awfully cute. And then again, let’s give the good kid a break. He is in the biz to earn a living and to enjoy his life.

Jon Mullally – Philippines’ top model

Jon Mullally
Jon is one of the Philippines’ top male models.

Jon Mullally is 6’1″ lean, trim and weighing 175 lbs. He used to be the Century Tuna Image Model, getting the deal after surviving a model search held in Boracay Islands last year. Jon was formerly a banker in London before moving here to do some modeling [I presume without being too cocky about it: Modeling is way more lucrative than say, banking.]. Jonathan Mullally, recently seen as the yellow-bikini-clad cover of gay Icon pulp, is half-Irish and half-Filipino.

Andres Segura

Andres SeguraBorn in 1977, Andres Velencoso grew up in Tossa del Mar, a small town near Barcelona, Spain. He is the picture perfect image of a young Spanish man: dark brown locks of hair, a debonair and elegant smile, and dark mysterious eyes. Now Andres Segura stars in Fall 2003 highly anticipated Louis Vuitton campaign. The campaign, which was shot by photographer duo Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot, will feature the Latin hunk opposite international star Jennifer Lopez.

Growing up in Tossa del Mar, a small seaside town outside Barcelona, Segura finished school before venturing into a Spanish modeling agency, Group Models Management. But his journey to success was filled with frustration and rejections in the beginning. A buzzed haircut and a muscular body didn’t seem to be the ideal image that European market demands. When Andres went to Milan, almost every agent thought that he was too big and goofy.
Andres Segura

Natalie Kates, an agent from New York based Q Model Management opened the door to Andres Segura. With his newly grown long hair, Andres finally landed in New York in the early spring of 2001.

Undeniably gorgeous, yet unpolished and speaking no English, Andres Segura traveled overseas for his first time to New York City. Within days of arriving he found himself on the set of a shoot in East Hampton, New York. Despite the hardships of a language barrier, he caught the eyes of some of the industry’s most famous photographers including Francois Nars, Michael Thompson, Hiro and Greg Kadel.

In the Spring 2002 his first campaign for Banana Republic made him one of the most recognizable men in fashion. His handsome smile brought him from a small village to a billboard at the top of Times Square.
Andres Segura
For a year following, he continued his modeling when photographer duo Inez and Vinoodh and stylist Joe McKenna chose him to be the subject of French Vogue’s first male model profile. The issue, which debuted in April 2003, launched him to the eyes of fashion and catapulted him to become the new male icon.

His sharp good looks have now matured into ultra-sexiness and his English is swept with a sharp charming accent that makes him the new definition for male beauty. The stunning black and white editorial in French Vogue caught the eyes of Louis Vuitton creative director Marc Jacobs who hand-selecting Segura to star in the Fall 2003 Louis Vuitton campaign while rumors of Jennifer Lopez’s involvement began to swirl. Ben Affleck was allegedly hanging around on set to make sure they behaved themselves.
Andres Segura
It wasn’t until the final call sheet appeared at Q Management a day before the shoot, which confirmed Lopez’s appearance, that the world outside of fashion would begin to know Segura’s name and now it is not soon that they will forget it.

He has followed up his Fall 2003 campaign for Louis Vuitton, with appearances in Citizen K, The Face, and the upcoming Brioni and Exte Campaigns, along with television profiles on Entertainment Tonight and EXTRA.

Albert Reed

Birth Date: March 6, 1985
Birth Place: Miami, Florida, USA
Birth Name: Albert Reed
Weight: 180 pounds
HEIGHT: 6’2.5″ / 189 cm
WAIST: 32
SHIRT: 15½
HAIR: brown
SUIT: 40
INSEAM: 34
SHOE: 11½
EYES: blue

Albert Reed was born in South Miami Hospital on March 6, 1985.

He spent his youth in a middle-class Miami neighborhood with a supportive family. Although all was well at home, Miami was changing into an unsafe place. The schools were becoming overpopulated with gangs, causing confrontations and distractions for Albert. Although he maintained good grades and kept himself busy with sports and his passion for art, Albert’s family decided that it was best to leave Miami and move in 1998 to a more secure area of Florida, Vero Beach. Here the schools were the best in the state, and of course, Albert was able to fulfill his desire to surf everyday – a dream come true. He was immediately able to fit in with others who shared the surfer culture, making close friends and living a casual life filled with surf wax, surf boards and chasing swells up and down the coast.

Living this lifestyle, Albert couldn’t help but be thrust into competitive surfing. Although he frequently succeeded in these contests, the aggressive nature did not coincide with the purity that Albert felt surfing was intended for. For this reason, he stopped participating in competitions. Albert was a soul surfer, and he became indulged in the idea of big wave riding…chasing down every hurricane and never stepping down to sizeable waves.

Meanwhile, in Vero Beach Albert was working in a five star restaurant waiting tables. Between working he would frequently take trips back to Miami, and it was here that modeling fell into his lap. When a friend asked Albert to accompany her to a modeling agency, he thought nothing of it. Little did he know that the Miami agency would immediately see potential in the young surfer and offer him a modeling contract. With focus on finishing school, he modeled only part-time, booking odd-end jobs for extra money.

In graduating high school in 2003, he found himself overwhelmed with the desire to become something more. He moved back to Miami to pursue modeling and PR work in clubs. After living there for four months, Albert realized that the atmosphere of Miami was unhealthy and hindered his personal growth. Therefore when a series of modeling jobs were offered to Albert in Europe, he didn’t hesitate to take advantage of the opportunity to travel. He started in Greece and Italy, where he lived for about six months, experiencing what other countries had to offer. While working hard between castings and jobs in Europe, he returned to the states for jobs such as the fall Abercrombie & Fitch shoot.

Albert has now settled down in New York, where his modeling career continues to flourish. He’s expanded his interests to acting and a possible music career -writing songs and recording music with his band. A self-proclaimed free spirit, Albert won’t stop working his hardest until he’s accomplished his goals. By the way things look right now, that shouldn’t take too long.

Jonathan Rhys-Meyers

Jonathan Rhys-MeyersReal Name: Jonathan Michael Francis O’Keefe
Nationality: Irish
Height: 5′ 10
Hair: Dark Brown
Eyes: Grey Blue
Born: July, 27 1977 in Dublin, Ireland.

Discovered: Jonathan and his family moved to County Cork, Ireland, when the actor was nearly a year old, and then, at the age of 3, his father left the family, leaving his mother to care for Jonny and his 3 younger brothers alone.

Jonathan had a difficult childhood and even spent some time in an orphanage and was permanently expelled from school at age 16. Happy to be out of school, he began spending time in a local pool hall where he was discovered by Hubbard Casting. The casting agents were talent-spotting for the David Puttnam production of War of the Buttons (1994), and asked Jonathan to appear for an audition. After three days of auditions, however, he did not get the role, and Meyers gave up on his acting aspirations.

Soon afterward, he received a call to audition for a national ad campaign for Knorr soup, and though embarrassed by the attention from the ad, he soon found himself considered for a major film.

His movie acting debut was a very small role in the film A Man of No Importance (1994). He became well-known internationally for his role as a sympathetic football coach in Bend It Like Beckham (2002). His upcoming role in the Woody Allen film Match Point has also garnered him praise and attention.
